The story of Orlova Chuka cave Once upon a time there were people, who lived in the caves. Their life was hard and they did incredible things just to survive. Caves were their homes, their shelter, and their rescue. Nowadays these people are dead, but the call of the centuries can still be heard…28 km. from Ruse and 11 km from the town of Dve Mogili the amazing Orlova Chuka Cave is located. The entrance opens to the romantic valley of the Cherni Lom River, 40. m. above the river. The total length of the galleries is 12 km. thus being the second longest cave in Bulgaria. In these cave galleries one finds such stunning pageants, that astonishing views, as if created of some magician-stalactites, stalagmites and stalactones interweave in complex figures and forms. In some galleries are found even crystals!
The Spring is said to be the most beautiful place in the cave-and the legend says, that if you drink water from here a great dream of yours will come true! The cave contains several archaeological remains-bones, clay pots, tops of pikes... The upper cave sediments contained remains of the Thracians, who lived here during the Bronze Age and the time of the Romans. Now the only ones who inhabit the cave are bats and a rock bear. Orlova Chuka is electrified and modernized, in order her fascinations to be seen. And to hear the call of the centuries, of course…
