EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT WELCOMES BULGARIA, ROMANIA'S OBSERVERS
|
Eighteen Bulgarian MPs and 35 Romanian will join the European Parliament as observers on Monday.
At a solemn ceremony in Strasbourg European Parliament President Josep Borrell will greet both Bulgaria and Romania's observers.
MEPs will also officially welcome Romanian and Bulgarian parliamentary observers with a concert on Tuesday and a reception in Strasbourg's town hall on Wednesday - both countries expect to join the union in January 2007.
The socialist Coalition for Bulgaria will send six observers, the King's Party will have four, three MPs will be from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, two from the Union of Democratic Forces and one from Attack coalition, Democrats for Strong Bulgaria and Bulgarian People's Union.
As a EU acceding country, Bulgaria is to send 18 MPs as observers to the European Parliament, along with 35 from Romania. |
